Teresa Daniels, MD

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Teresa Daniels is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Bradley Hospital. She also is an assistant professor in the department of psychiatry and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

In her research, Dr. Daniels investigates how early life stress shapes both vulnerability and resilience, with particular attention to how childhood environments interact with biological systems. Her studies explore links between stress exposure and changes in hormones, immune activity, and cellular energy regulation. Recently, her research has centered on the role of mitochondria in managing the body’s physiological reactions to social and emotional challenges, especially in relation to mental health. Current projects include studying markers of accelerated biological aging in mothers and infants, as well as evaluating how parent support groups influence treatment results in the Partial Hospital Program at Bradley Hospital.

She earned an undergraduate degree in neuroscience at the University of Virginia and a medical degree and master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her residency in psychiatry in the R25-funded research training program at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

Dr. Daniels is a member of the Rhode Island Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the Rhode Island Psychiatric Society, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
