Michelle Aiello, PhD

Psychologist, Mi Gente Child and Family Outpatient Services

Michelle Aiello, PhD, is a bilingual licensed psychologist and an assistant professor (research) in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University. 

As a researcher in the InVita Lab, her work centers on adolescent mental health, suicide, trauma, and resilience. She studies culturally responsive interventions for Latinx and Hispanic youth at risk for suicide and works to reduce mental health disparities in these communities. Her research also examines how exposure to community violence affects the mental health of adolescents.

Dr. Aiello earned her associate degree from Miami Dade College and later transferred to the University of Central Florida, where she became a McNair Scholar and earned her bachelor of science degree in Psychology. Dr. Aiello obtained her PhD in counseling psychology from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

In 2020, Dr. Aiello was awarded the American Psychological Association’s Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship to improve the quality of mental health care provided to racial and ethnic minoritized communities. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Emory University and later completed her postdoctoral fellowship at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and Bradley Hospital.
