Kathleen A. Kemp, PhD

Research Psychologist

Kathleen Kemp, PhD, is a research psychologist with Bradley Hasbro Children's Research Center and the director of the Rhode Island Family Court Mental Health Clinic, where she specializes in forensic mental health evaluations with adolescents in the juvenile justice system. She also is an associate professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University.

Dr. Kemp’s research focuses on suicide prevention and substance use interventions, as well as the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatment with youth involved in the juvenile legal and child welfare systems. 

She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology with a specialization in forensic psychology at Drexel University; completed her predoctoral internship at University of Massachusetts Medical School/Worcester State Hospital; and completed her forensic psychology fellowship at the University of Virginia's Institute of Law, Psychiatry, and Public Policy and Western State Hospital. In addition, Dr. Kemp received a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Marywood University and a master’s degree in clinical psychology (forensic) from Drexel University.

Dr. Kemp is active in the American Psychology-Law Society, where she serves on several committees and co-chaired its international conference in Seattle in 2017.
