“Find a Doctor” is operated by Brown University Health and includes all physicians who are on the medical staffs of Brown University Health-affiliated hospitals, without any charge to them. Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Brown University Health-affiliated medical staff physicians.
Diane E. McLean, MD, PhD, MPH
Diane McLean, MD, PhD, MPH, is a child and adolescent psychiatrist with the Adolescent Partial Hospital Program at Bradley Hospital and Bradley REACH, a program that expands the hospital’s expertise in caring for the mental health of children and adolescents through education, consultation, and telemedicine services using Remote E-Therapy for Adolescents and Children.
Previously, Dr. McLean was an attending psychiatrist in the child and adolescent psychiatry unit at NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, New York and a staff psychiatrist with the Federal Bureau of Prisons in New York and Brooklyn, as well as in Danbury, Connecticut. She maintains a private practice in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry and psychotherapy in New York City.
Dr. McLean received both a doctorate degree in epidemiology and a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University and earned a medical degree at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She completed her residency in adult psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital/New York State Psychiatric Institute/Columbia University and her residency in child and adolescent psychiatry at Columbia/Cornell.
She has held academic appointments throughout her career, including as an instructor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Columbia University, and the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, City University of New York, where she developed and taught the community medicine and public health required course module for first-year students in the physician assistant program.
She has been a principal investigator, co-principal investigator, and co-investigator in multiple research projects for the US National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that have investigated environmental and social factors impacting childhood asthma, the relationship of psychologic stressors to maternal health, barriers to treatment of prostate cancer, and other community health initiatives. She has a particular interest and expertise in community/academic partnerships.
Throughout her career, Dr. McLean has served on numerous professional boards, committees, and organizations including almost a dozen years on the protocol review committee for the NHLBI CARE network, a network of clinical centers conducting research on treatment of childhood asthma. She was the national secretary for the Committee for Health in Southern Africa and a participant in the National Health Service Corps. She was co-director of Positive Exposure, a 501c(3) organization that uses photography and video interviews to explore the experiences of people affected with genetic conditions in the US and internationally, including French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Navajo Nation, Hopi Nation, and Zuni Nation.
With her broad expertise, Dr. McLean has co-authored many peer-reviewed articles, co-presented at many professional forums and conferences, and has been a featured source of scientific and clinical information for many media outlets.
