Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Brown University Health or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Brown University Health’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Brown University Health hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Brown University Health. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Brown University Health or its affiliates from any listed physician. Christopher Houck, PhD
Staff Psychologist
Christopher Houck, PhD, is a staff psychologist at Rhode Island Hospital and an assistant professor of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown University. Previously, he was a research associate at Rhode Island Hospital.
Dr. Houck received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a doctorate degree in clinical psychology with a concentration in clinical child/ pediatric psychology at the University of Florida. He completed an internship in clinical psychology at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in California and a postdoctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology at Brown University’s Clinical Psychology Training Consortium.
Research Interests
Dr. Houck conducts research on factors that influence adolescent risk behaviors, especially sexual behaviors and substance use. His work focuses on the role of emotion regulation in health behaviors, including the development of prevention interventions that teach emotion regulation skills to middle schoolers with the goal of reducing risk.
