Brian Kavanaugh, PsyD, is a pediatric neuropsychologist at Bradley Hospital and assistant professor in the division of child and adolescent psychiatry at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Kavanaugh completed a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Antioch University New England, a pediatric neuropsychology internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and a pediatric neuropsychology fellowship at Bradley Hospital and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
His research is focused on developing novel, brain-based treatments for the neurocognitive aspects of childhood neuropsychiatric disorders. He utilizes methods such as brain imaging (e.g., MRI), brain activity recording (e.g., EEG), and non-invasive brain stimulation (e.g., TMS) to modulate the neural dynamics underlying neurocognitive deficits in children and adolescents. His research is currently supported by the NIMH, Brain & Behavior Research Foundation, and the Carol Peterson Foundation.
Dr. Kavanaugh is board-certified in clinical neuropsychology with a subspecialty in pediatric clinical neuropsychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology. His research is currently funded by the NIMH-K23 Award, Brain & Behavior Research Foundation-NARSAD, The Carol Peterson Foundation, and the COBRE Center for Neuromodulation.
