The center offers acute care service for up to 19 children and adolescents, 4 to 21 years old, who present with serious behavioral disorders in addition to a developmental disability, such as intellectual disability or an autism spectrum disorder.

Children admitted to the inpatient service have been identified as a danger to themselves (exhibit self-injurious behavior) and/or others (outwardly aggressive). The inpatient service has a national reputation for outstanding clinical care and has evaluated and treated children and adolescents from 20 states.

Inpatient services for patients with developmentally disabilities make up only a small portion of our overall program.
